The purpose and objective of this research paper is to discuss and examine the problem of domestic violence in the U.S.A. By definition, domestic violence encompasses many domestic conflicts which are usually associated with the nuclear family. Similarly, it is the intent of this author to examine as many of these causes as is feasible, particularly on both the individual as well as social level. Battered wife syndrome, the impact which domestic violence has upon children, and the relationship between the police department and the courts, as well as related social groups or human resources will also be a factor within this overall consideration. To begin with, there has been much discussion regarding the causes of domestic violence. At the heart of many of the arguments which prevail, the issue of violence in the media, i.e. television, films, etc. is central. In fact, in 1993-94, violence on television was particularly on the minds of the Congress and the Senate, and even many television stations voluntarily put forth an agenda which would curb violence.
