Industrial hemp is a dangerous drug that should never be grown for any purpose. This is not true, but it's a common misconception among the average American. Really, industrial hemp is not a drug at all, just an incredibly helpful plant.Industrial hemp is helpful in many ways. There would be many benefits and lots of profits to be made if industrial hemp were legal. Ropes, butter, clothes and birdseed are all products that can be made from industrial hemp. Deforestation and energy problems can be solved with industrial hemp. Due to falling prices of other commodities,it could save farmers from poverty, if it were legalized. Why is it still illegal? Because ignorant government officials do not understand the potential for this plant. There is growing interest in hemp production though. Pro hemp laws have been enacted this year in Minnesota, Hawaii, Nebraska, and North Dakota. Industrial hemp is the non-intoxicating cousin of marijuana. They are both forms of the Cannabis Sativa L. plant, differing only in the amount of delta-9 tetrahydrocannibinol (THC) which gives the user a ‘high'.
