There are many stereotypes that society has placed on youth. Adults as well as other youths hold images in their heads that are not necessarily true about the different groups of teens. Rather than writing about youth as a whole, I found information about the different groupings that teenagers split themselves up into. “Skinheads” are a common group that many male teens will follow. This gang victimizes racial, ethnical and sexual minorities. A “skinhead’s” image is usually kept quite tough looking by shaving their head, wearing tight blue jeans or army style pants. It is also common to see them wearing a wife beater, a bomber jacket, red or white suspenders that hang loose and a pair of doc Martens or combat boots with white or red laces in them. The red and white laces or suspenders signify the fact that they are extreme racists. It is said that many “skinheads” come from homes of violence and oppression. Because of their abusive family background, most turn to this crowd for acceptance and/or comfort but are still vulnerable to violent behaviour.
