Why Political Thinking
Glenn Tinder, in his work Political Thinking; The Perennial Questions, writes that his objective is to provide "an impulse and sense of direction that will help a reader think about the political dilemmas of human existence and hence of all times rather than of our time alone," (p.9). Thus, he suggests that engaging in political thinking involves more than simply issues of the present. Political thinking enables people to reach answers that are otherwise unattainable. It also fulfills the need of humans to have ideas, whether or not they are correct. Lastly, political thinking enables people to gain humanity. Tinder proposes that political thinking is a worthwhile, and even imperative endeavor for these reasons.
