Governments have control. When you let a dissident group or person have an edge on the peoples' opinion, not only have you lost control, but you have let a negative thought enter the mind of that person. Governments need to control what happens in "their own backyard". If they don't, the public might be subjected to electing a governing body that may turn out to be the next Adolf Hitler. Hitler used manipulation to get to the peoples minds, emotions and feelings. By doing so, Germany elected one of the smartest and most viscous men in history. Governments must take actions against groups who may seem like a threat to the public. If they don't, the public may be hurt or forced into something that they don't agree with. Even before Hitler was the head of Germany, he already started campaigning that everything that had gone wrong, was either the communists fault or the Jews' fault or both.
