A Problem That Is Haunting For Thwe Rest Of My Life
At the age of sixteen my days of bike racing and playing football was put on hold. My doctor discovered that I have a bone condition that would interfere with my sports. The condition causes my bones not to absorb the amount of calcium that is needed to grow properly. Now, as I have seen on x-rays, my bones have holes in them and have created more problems than I could have imagined.
I did not think much of the pain in my knee because I had just gotten done playing a football game. After a week went by and the pain was still there I told my Mom I had to go to a doctor. She said she would make an appointment for Thursday.
A few days went by and the pain began to subside, I told my Mom that I was fine, and we could cancel the appointment. She said to me, "You should get your knee checked because it's better safe than sorry".
When I got to the doctor's office, I explained the pain and where it was in my knee. After the doctor looked at it he told me I pulled a muscle, but he wanted to take an x-ray to make sure the joint was ok. The x-ray was developed and the doctor said he needed to talk to me about other problems that where discovered.
The Doctor showed me the x-rays and pointed out the medium size blotches. The blotches where located on my right femur just above my knee. He told me that he had never seen anything like this and the x-rays would be sent out to be analyzed by a specialist. He also said I would have go through a couple of tests at a hospital. He gave me two notes: one was for type of tests that needed to done at the hospital, and the other was for my football coach and trainer stating that "Michael Cihlar will not be able to play football or participate in any strenuous activity until further notice". In addition to this I couldn't do anything that would result in my leg being harmed until the tests results where in.
I had didn't know what to think at this point. I just thought I was...
