"Obligation Of Freedom"

Two hundred years ago, our forefathers fought the Revolutionary War against Great Britain in order to create an independent country in which citizens could have the freedom to better their own lives. America fought a Civil War to secure our freedom and liberty. In two World Wars, America fought against fascism and oppressive power in Europe. If these wars not been fought, I may not enjoy the freedom to sit here and type these words. I believe it's fair to say that World War II had just cause; it was fought to stop a malicious killer in Germany who had already killed some 6,000,000 innocent people. Hitler sought to obliterate millions of Jews and harmless minorities, denying them their inalienable rights and freedoms. Although the cost was certainly high enough, America also fought in Vietnam to prevent the spread of Communism, which, in effect, enslaves and undermines what our country was built to stand for.
To foreign nations, America has uneasily sent her men. In different countries across the world, gallant soldiers have been sent to fight. In the sweltering jungles of the Pacific, in Europe, among the sharp hills of China, in the dry searing desert of Libya, in the snow covered side of Belgium, and the in frozen north regions of Korea, men have laid down their lives to ensure our liberty. In such places of the world, in various environments, and surroundings America's finest soldiers have paid the supreme sacrifice for our nations freedom.
What do we owe these men? What are we obligated to return to them? Men were willing to lay down their lives, sacrificing themselves for our country. What do we owe these men who suffered from loneliness, heat, tropical storms, and blistering cold? How could we possibly repay a man who had to endure the cries of his fallen comrades?
We will never know the joy of the veterans' lives; we will only know the glory for which they died. We are obligated to continue striving for freedom. "We owe it to...
