Aborigines

I am interested in Aboriginal culture, Aboriginal arts and lots of Aboriginal things, however I don¡¯t know a lot of about how were they treated in Australia before. That¡¯s why I chose this topic.
As some people said, Australia¡¯s history has been a story of black and white since 1788. Yet until recently the Aborigines infrequently appeared in the Australian history, so that the Australian has been presented with half a history. (Half an Australian experience)
Can you imagine being stolen from your family as a baby, being sent to the other side of the country, brought up in the other culture, being told that your parents are dead, and being treated like a slave? Terrible, isn¡¯t it?
However, this is exactly what had happened to the indigenous children. Until recently, the native Australians are now widely known as¡¯ The stolen generation¡¯.
In 1940s, the indigenous children have been forcibly separated form their families and communities by Australian government. The reason is they are violent and dangerous. The government thought there was no hope for the adults, but there was still a chance to ¡°save¡± the children. Children been taken away to live with white people and be ¡°educated¡±, they would merge (mix up, combine) with the population. Thus, children were kidnapped often by missionaries, in order to change them from their traditional life-style. The missionaries told those ¡°stolen¡± children that they were unwanted or rejected by their tribes. (An organization of lots of families, groups, and they live together, have the same culture and leadership.) Or that their parents were dead. Children were forbidden to talk in their own language, and they were not allowed to discuss anything about their tribal life. Conditions of those stolen children were appalling; they could not have enough food, could not feel safe, and locked up like caged animals, and many were physically and sexually abused....
