2. Please Describe The Evolution Of Your Career. If You Were To Remain With Your Present Employer, What Would Be Your Next Step In Terms Of Position? (250 Words)

I have done my graduation from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK), which ranks among the premier institutions of India. Although I am a B. Tech. in Chemical Engineering, I went on to take up a computer software job with Daewoo Software. I was faced with the challenge of competing with other software professionals who already had a degree with computer major. My curiosity to learn and my ability to grasp helped me achieve my targets.

Very soon I traveled to Japan for an onsite assignment. The Japan assignment proved to be a very valuable experience in my career both in terms of the international exposure I got out of it and the kind of challenges I faced while working on the project. This was the first instance when I was outside my home country, communicating only with foreigners and living in totally alien conditions. The two major problems were language and food. I realized the only way out was to learn Japanese and start appreciating the Japanese food. Within 3 months, I could read, write and speak Japanese to an extent which was sufficient for me to survive there. I went ahead and also took the Japanese language proficiency test conducted worldwide and passed it with a very high percentage.

On returning to India, I was promoted to the team leader role and was made in charge of a team of four. The project I was put in was on a totally new technology. Within a few weeks, I was able to point a design flaw. I escalated the issue, revisited the design and came up with a robust algorithm which was readily accepted. From then on, I found myself leading teams on various projects for a year, until when I decided to move on to greater challenges. I quit Daewoo and joined Cheverolet Systems.

While in Cheverolet, I was responsible for building up a team under me, which can take over the responsibilities of the existing Applications team in San Jose. I am currently working on expanding my team so that we can start...
